Shopping District: 9 Streets
The Nine Streets
In Amsterdam you have nine cozy and picturesque shopping streets full of quirky shops and wonderful eateries better known as “The Nine Streets”. In the world heritage Canal Belt, just a little walk from Dam Square you find this gem in the city. The names of the six bigger streets (Reestraat, Hartenstraat, Berenstraat, Wolvenstraat, Runstraat and the Huidenstraat) refer to the area’s past in leather. Some of the buildings in the Nine Streets are more than 400 years old. It is a very lively area with authentic shops, charming bars, restaurants and galleries. It is a nice miss match between high-end and more affordable shopping experiences. From antique, to vintage and contemporary, they aren’t afraid to mix styles in this part of town. Whoever visits the shopping district will come home with something special and different, old or new!
Don’t forget this shopping area while you make your way from the Museum Quarter to the Anne Frank house, it is truly worth a stroll.
