National Tulip Day: Tulip picking on Dam Square

Discover Amsterdam

To kick off the tulip season in a festive way, on Saturday 19 January you can go tulip picking on the icon Dam Square! On National Tulip Day an overwhelming amount of tulips will transform the most known square in Amsterdam into a huge tulip picking garden.

National Tulip Day goes hand in hand with traditional Dutch music, drinks and other live entertainment. On arrival you’ll get a biodegradable bag, so you can pick up to 20 tulips from the colorful garden. Make sure you arrive in time. It might be that you’ll have to wait in line fora while, but the experience for young and old is more than worth it. The volunteers (recognizable by their orange jackets) will be able to answer all the questions you have about these pretty flowers. And even if you don’t go tulip picking, the atmosphere is wonderful!
