Amsterdam North – New and upcoming
This part of the city was never truly part of town according to the locals. They felt that the Northern district was to different and too far away to be part of the city. But times are changing, Amsterdam North is the new and upcoming area in Amsterdam and it is definitely worth a visit! This part of the city is more industrial and raw. The district is also home to the Ijhallen, the biggest vintage market in the city. Whatever you do, don’t skip this interesting part of the city. With all of its changes, Amsterdam North is now really a part of the city!
What to do in Amsterdam North
The advantage of Amsterdam North? You have amazing views of the city and ‘t IJ! When you want to experience a spectacular view of the city you have to visit the A’DAM Tower. This 22 story landmark is home to a selection of top-notch bars, restaurants – including a 19th floor revolving restaurant – and a rooftop observation deck with stunning views across Amsterdam. Brouwerij de Vriendschap (the friendship) just opened its tasting room, located in health food/pancake restaurant Stroop, above the Brew Lab. The first brew, Hopblond, was an immediate success and a great start for the two friends’ brewing career. All their beers are unpasteurized and if the style asks for it, unfiltered. The Brew Lab and tasting room are located within the verdant city farming project NoordOogst.
As your Amsterdam City Guide, we hope you’ll enjoy Amsterdam North!
