AMSTERDAM CITY CENTRE
The Amsterdam city centre is probably most famous for the red-light district, the canals and the coffeeshops. But there is more than that. Let Hello Amsterdam be your city guide in this underrated part of the city. Yes, it is full of big-chain stores and tourist traps, but there are also awesome hotspots, special sights and cool things to do in the Amsterdam city centre.
AMSTERDAM CITY CENTRE, DISCOVER IT BY BIKE
When in Amsterdam, do as the locals do. Ditch the car and public transport, and go for a bike! Biking through the historic city centre with its canals and cute cafes is really one of the best things you can do during your stay. As the city is hard to get through by car, the bike is the best way to explore the whole city in a fast and efficient way. You can rent a bike for the time you are staying in the city or take one of the bikes that are freely available in the Amsterdam city centre.
AMSTERDAM CITY CENTRE – OUR FAVORITE HOT-SPOTS
We wouldn’t leave you without a couple suggestions of our own. Obviously, this dedicated Amsterdam city centre page is full of suggestions, but we would like to highlight the following things to do. Fo Guang Shan Holland Tempel is Europe’s largest Buddhist shrine. But the temple is still a haven of peace and tranquility. The holy place is located in the heart of Amsterdam’s Chinatown amidst many Asian restaurants, bars and shops. The Dutch Masters & Marvels Tour is one of the most complete day trips available. This fun, fullday excursion will take you to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum, the Diamond Museum and on a guided cruise through the historic canal district.
